Hey, you made it! I do appreciate your time and don't plan on wasting it. I'm hoping that by sharing pictures and details of my life, you'll feel personally connected to the site, to me, and most importantly, to the ideas and passions that are driving this whole project. Shall we?
Meet little Jeremy Regis Chipps, dressed up and ready for elementary school. Don't miss my brother, Jordan, peering creepily at me from the window, jealous of my overalls. For the first 8 years of my life, I lived in the suburbs of Frederick, Maryland at the end of the road in a cul-de-sac (love that word). We had a hill right behind our house, and a beautiful patch of woods with a creek running through it. We played outside all the time!
Here's a short list of fun we had: sports in the cul-de-sac, taking whatever we could down the hill (bikes in summer and sleds and snowboards in winter, jumping into our inflatable swimming pool, climbing trees, climbing on the roof, making aluminum foil boats to float in the creek, building forts in the woods, and when the weather was really bad, we had an "unfinished" basement that was large and smooth enough to ride bikes and roller-blade. My childhood was amazing and that's something I will forever cherish and be thankful for.
At 8 years old, we made a big move to Fleming Island, Florida (outside of Jacksonville), where I lived until going off to college. Nothing changed as far as interest in playing outside and going on adventures. I have a lot of family to thank for the adventures they took me on and for shaping me into who I have become. There's most of them below.
Fast forward to the end of high school. I had been accepted into the University of Central Florida and had one more summer before moving to Orlando for 4 years. This was the summer that my eyes were truly opened to the beauty and adventure that's out there! My Aunt was generous enough to lend my cousins and I her brand new car and we broke it in by driving it all over our beautiful country! More on that in a future blog post.
My college years at UCF were some of the best of my life. I studied Marketing and Professional Selling. I was able to be part of an awesome community, YoungLife College. And I even met my lovely wife, Jenna! What a special experience!
Since graduating in May of 2017, Jenna and I married in Orlando before making a big move to Winston-Salem, North Carolina! I accepted a job as a Pharmaceutical Sales Representative in Diabetes and Jenna is an Elementary School Teacher. We wanted to leave the comforts of Florida, experience something new together, and be able to explore the mountains that Florida lacks. Here's a photo from our first week here at a park just a half hour from home.
In August of 2020, we sold nearly everything, bought an RV and lived in for 14 months while traveling the US and working remotely.
I quit my pharmaceutical sales job and found a remote sales position in the solar industry. Jenna quit her teaching position and began teaching on Outschool and has really done well!
In October of 2020, we sold that RV for a profit and are now traveling abroad for an indefinite amount of time.
To wrap up, I want to share my gratitude for these opportunities and experiences. I understand that many people don't get the same opportunities. We all have varying constraints and limitations.
Despite any limitations you may have, what is it that you'd love to experience? What's holding you back? Have you made it a priority?
Thanks so much for reading. I would love to get to know you too! Click below and send me something!
